For almost 20 years I have been linking people to TV programmes through communication technologies. In 1993 I set up the BBC's first Internet operation, the BBC Networking Club, which pioneered the use of websites about programmes. In 1996, I set up Red Fig, which linked the Internet, IVR, SMS, Red Button to programmes across all the UK terrestrial broadcasters. In 2005 I set up InTime Media to use apps on mobile handsets to do the same. We now count BBC Worldwide and Endemol as customers. But it's been a long, hard, stressful road.
